In class we've been talking about the fall of Lucifer and why he and 1/3 of the angels were cast out of heaven. We know that Lucifer's problem was not so much that he wanted to be like God. His problem was that he wanted to be God. He was jealous that God had the power to create and he didn't.
So God could have but did not immediately destroy Lucifer because He loves him. He had to allow sin to play its role here on earth to show the rest of the universe just how bad sin is. God also did not want the other angels to love Him out of fear for their life, but out of true love, a decision, a choice.
So from this lesson, a student came up to me today after class and asked if it was at all possible that Satan could still repent of his sins and be forgiven? Could Satan be allowed back into heaven if he truly repented? It definitely stirred my mind. What do you think? Post your comments.
If Satan truly does mean to become good again then God would have to look at his heart and see if he truly would like to become good again
ReplyDeleteIf you accept that Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins so that we may be forgiven and worship the Son of God, then it is said that we may live with him forever and ever, Amen.
DeleteIts sad how you get the bible twisted for your own point. No Satan can not and never will be saved. It is written that god did not come to this world to die for the angels bit for mankind so they can be redeemed and saved!!
DeleteSo let's follow logic, the angles that did not fall but remained faithful to God, do they make mistakes and have to go to Jesus and repent of a Sin? The Bible never ever states this as even a remote possibility. The angles are a specific creation and can not by default, Being in the very presence of God, and know the very mind of God the father, Jesus The Messiah and the Holy Spirit not know what not to do. The very act of disagreement with God would be an act of rebellion of the highest order. In Deuteronomy & Leviticus during the antitypical day of Atonement, there was no atonement to the people who knew God's will about witchcraft, Baal, and High Handed sins. the law of the land was the judgement. They could not even approach God Sanctuary.
DeleteWe cant even begin to understand the depth of the wickedness and the far reaching effects of Sin acted out in Heaven. This act was not simply a misunderstanding of God's will and Love it was so evil that Satan wanted to dethrone God and rule all of creation since eternity past to eternity future. This very act Satan knew the far reaching consequences and so did the angles that fell with him.
The angels and spirits don't need Jesus as they are not flesh and blood. Their deal is in the Quran: Hadith 37 "Do a good act and it counts 10x do a bad act and it counts 1x."
DeleteThey are spirits and must repent and become good workers who work well with each other, with man, and with God.
The lie they've believed until now is that they are destined for perdition. But the truth came out in the Quran, although that truth was disguised as being for humans.
Our, human, covenant with God, in this dispensation is Jesus. Believe on faith, not works.
The angels and spirits and demons must repent, show works worthy of repentance, then return home to the Father (and do NOT show up empty handed my brothers from another...!)
I think Satan can't be forgiven because he has already made his choice. He chose to be self-centered and selfish God made him pure and Satan chose to be evil.
ReplyDeleteYou never know..... As we talked about it Mr.Ostos ..... Maybe when he is captured for 1,000 years , during that time he may realize and repent, and regret all the bad he did.But there's a chance that he may not.But i mostly got with what i said before. And if Satan does repent most likely God will see that Satan truly repented and will forgive him.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I believe that if he truly repents for his sins, makes the conscious effort to better himself by rejecting sin, and worship Jesus Christ the Son of God, that he will have the opportunity to be saved. But ultimately, it is God's decision what happens to him.
DeleteI think that Satan won't be forgiven because God had already give Satan his change while still in heaven before the war in heaven started. Satan had made his choice already, and he chose to go against God instead of being with God. Satan will still acknowledge that God is God, but it will be either during or a little bit before Satan is destroyed.
ReplyDeleteI think Satan would not be forgiven because he made his choice to betray his lord, and his hatred and jealousy towards God blinds him and makes him stubborn. I think he doesn't tink of repent at all, i think he only thinks of getting revenge.
ReplyDelete@Genesis There is that possibility that during the 1000 years Satan is alone he'll have all that time to think about the evil he's done. Could it lead to repentance? Maybe. Maybe not. Why can't he realize that now?
ReplyDeleteI think he will be forgiven if God can see his heart again.
ReplyDeleteOur God is a God of forgiveness and he loves everything he created.
Yes, i think God will forgive him if he TRULY means it. (meaning Satan won't just say it to be allowed in heaven)
ReplyDeleteBUT that doesn't mean all of sin will go with him, sin will stay here on earth and people wouldn't know Satan repented. It's not like God will tell us that "Satan has finally repented!" or it will magically appear in the last verse in the Bible. We won't know until we see God when he finally brings us to heaven. It wouldn't make a difference to us, we would all still be sinners looking for Jesus in our hearts.
Plus I don't think God would just reject Satan. God wouldn't do that! He loves each and every one of us. Yeah... just my opinion.
Yes, because God is a forgiving God. God is a God of love, meaning He loves everyone, including me, his creations, his angels, and even Satan.
ReplyDelete@Ethan
ReplyDeleteWhat you said made me think of 1 Samuel 16:7 which says "The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart." We can't see into Satan's heart, though we know all of the evil he's done and is still doing. God is the only judge because he's the only one that can look into someone's heart, including Satan's.
@Kevin, Amira & Aaron
I think of the verse in 1 John 1:9 "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us fro all unrighteousness." Is it possible that even Satan can confess his sins and God can forgive him of all unrighteousness? This is tough to answer because we're not God who has the power to forgive. I like what you said though Aaron about how Satan doesn't think of repenting, only of getting revenge. Hmm..
@Daniel, Nicole & Kris
God is a God of love and I agree with you Kris when you said that He loves everyone. But don't you think God gets tired of all the sin Satan has brought into this world? He must want to put an end to it even if Satan repented which would mean destroying Satan. Prophecy tells us Satan will one day be destroyed. I wonder if this means Satan, and not Lucifer.
i have visions of Jesus and the agape love i understand..with that being said i have also heard Satan and his angels and if there is a chance at repentance who will pay the spiritual price for blasphemy of the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven in this world or the next, by Jesus or God? could it be that a child of God's carrying the cross of the Lord which is a Saviour's cross, a cross of forgiveness would give up this spirit that God has instilled in them to give them that chance at repentance? For the judgement of the lake of fire is righteous but think on this that we are baptized by fire so what if this lake of fire is also a refining fire one in which the great weeping is their sorrow of their choices and knashing of teeth is their hatred over said choices and the second death is that which made them blind, deaf, and hard hearted which is to say evil. So i ask again who would carry the Lord's cross for them and love the Heavenly Father enough to truly follow is His footsteps? Unfortunately alot of Christians think that carrying the cross means to change oneself or be transformed into the likeness of Jesus but i say that is a redundant cross for you are reborn and this transformation is already and your sins are already cleansed, so if you are carrying a cross of the Lord's and we know that all sin is forgiven thru Him except one....Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit should that not be what we as the body of Christ and the true church be forgiving? to much of a coincidence isn't it that He left one sin behind and said to take up the cross and follow me? For do you really believe that our Father who is perfect couldn't forgive His enemy and pray for His persecutor but expected man who falls short of His glory to do so? or rather not forgiven in this world or the next because there must be judgement and how many Christians do you know that would not need the next world to understand that even Satan can be redeemed that there is not a pit low enough that our Heavenly Father could not reach them? yeah i say to pray for the world after the next.............. a fellow Christain
DeleteI believe that Satan will not repent, and even if he does he will not be forgiven. Revelations 20:10 says that 'the devil will be tormented day and night and forever and ever.' So Satan cannot be forgiven, otherwise the prophecy of Revelations will be contradicted.
ReplyDeletethe bible is the truth but not the fullness of God's truth...what i mean is Moses law of divorcement was given because the hardness of hearts and Paul conceded in regards to the Sabbath because of hardness of hearts so that is just two examples where we were given something by man that was not the fullness of truth or God's intention so these words of eternal, forever and ever could that not be because of the hardness of hearts that we have towards Satan? The rest of the bible teaches to love thine enemy and to pray for the persecutor's , and hate the sin and not the sinner and yet we draw a line when it comes to Satan for he has come to steal, kill, and destroy? but i ask you to honestly search your heart and see that we have done the same to him for even though he once was counted full of wisdom, beautiful, and perfect and was in heaven we believe him to be just evil (steal), and most even the Christians would love to see him in the lake of fire and are full of hatred towards him, (KILL and destroy) something to think on my friend
DeleteI like your answers Daniela. Old conversation.
DeleteAnyhow, yes Satan, the devil will be tormented. But if he repents.. and Jesus is in the habit of giving new names to His friends, then satan may be renamed Lucifer again.
And Lucifer doesn't have to die
I think that satan will not ask for forgiveness. He has his own side he decided to leave heaven. He has so many people that joined his side. It says in the bible that satan and the sinners shall burn in the end of time so i think it's to late for satan to repent
ReplyDeleteEthan Carranza ^
ReplyDelete@Tim That's a great verse Tim. If Satan were forgiven, prophecy would contradict itself. So it seems like Satan doesn't even have a choice. No matter what, he'll be destroyed. Don't you think he knows the Bible and how all of this is going to end? If you were the Devil, wouldn't you not want to go through all of this trouble knowing that you're going to end up losing the battle to God?
ReplyDeleteLike Tim I agree that Satan will never ever repent. He will never repent becuz he has to much pride. And he truly believes that he is the one who is right.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I dont kno how to answer this question without doubting my answer... Becuz even if God did forgive him, he wuld still have to,pay fo his sins. Like we discussed in class, in the end we will all have to payfor our sins. This is one of those complicated multiple answer questions that no one can truly answer correctly 100%... So I think that we will get the answer one day, when we areall in heaven, then and only then when we ask Jesus will we know the true answer. :) -Cheyenne
@Ostos
ReplyDeletewell the Devil probably knows he'll lose the battle, but he wants to deceive God's children to his side... but just because Satan knows the Bible doesn't mean he believes it. There is a possibility that he thinks that he might win.
I think that God won't let him back to the heaven, since he wanted to destroy God. Before the war, God gave him the chance to repent, however, he not only didn't change but also getting more and more angry, he wanted to be God, since that, God won't let Satan back to heaven anymore.
ReplyDeleteSatan could not be forgiven and be allowed to back into heaven, although he truly repent. Because, although God loves the world, loves us and forgives our sins, yet he has his bottom line. Definitly, Satan passed the line, God can not tolerates that. Bill Wang
ReplyDeleteSatan will not repent because of God's mercy, so jealous that he forgot his good side, which is one of reason of sins. Therefore, even if God forgive him, he would not return to heaven.
ReplyDeleteSATAN CAN NOT AN WILL NOT BE ABLE TO REPENT EVEN IF HaYE WANTED TO..WHY BECAUSE GOD SENT HIS SON jESUS TO DIED ON THE CROSS ..YES GOD IS A FORGIVING God but satan went to far an deceived to many people over the years..once God sent his son it was OVER FOR SATAN..SATAN EVEN TEMPTED JESUS.
ReplyDeletesatan can only do wHAT GOD ALLOWS HIM TO. The thing that rattles my mind is that the bible says GOD knows what were going to do before we do it. I am a christian but ive came across the thought. If God knows what were going to do then he in fact wanted satan to exist. without satan the end times in revelution wouldnt happen. the bible was written by man. whos to say that its correct?? if i said God told me to write this ppl would think ive gone mad. SO ive came to the conclusion that drugs and booze could possibly exist in hell.
ReplyDeleteThey say we all have an evil twin right?? could this be because there are actually 2 dimensions of earth that exist. Imagine a world where if you didnt work for satan you had to go to heavon and not go to the biggest rock show ever when you die. Like i said i believe in God and practice the christian religion, but i cant just help trying to come up with a reason why people choose wrong over right.
If God is willing to give man a chance to repent and be saved, does he give Satan and his demons the same chance? Is it possible that Satan might repent and thus be saved?
ReplyDeleteBefore we tackle that question, let's look at some characteristics of angels and demons first.
We know that God created everything and everything he created is good. (See Gen 1:31 and James 1:17.) In Psalm 148:1-6, the psalmist expresses praise to God for all his creation and among the things he created were the "angels" and "hosts". Furthermore, in Col 1:16, we read that through Christ all things on heaven and earth, visible and invisible, were created. This gives us further confidence that all creation, including angels, were created good.
So Satan, when he was first created by God, was good. How can he therefore become evil? Well, creation's goodness is finite, mutable (i.e., changeable) and corruptible. God's goodness on the other hand is infinite, immutable and incorruptible. In other words, while God will never turn to evil, the same is not true of his created beings. Secondly, evil is not something that is created, but it is a misuse or misdirection of good. When you choose to move away from God's goodness, that essentially is evil.
Okay, so in relation to Satan, he chose to rebel against God. Yes, he was created good, but no matter how glorious he might have been, he had his limitations. He saw things that he did not possess and he wanted them. He saw God's glory and he coveted it. In wanting what was not his, he could bring about evil by misusing the good that was in him. He chose to do this. He rebelled. He sinned.
We now have a better understanding of how God's creature could turn evil. Man also rebelled and fell into sin. But God provided a plan of redemption for man. God provided an atoning sacrifice in Jesus Christ and through Jesus, he redeemed the human race and brought glory to himself for his love, grace and mercy.
However, Satan and his demons were not offered salvation. Hebrews 2:16 says, "For surely it is not angels that he [God] helps, but he helps the offspring of Abraham." (The context here is deliverance from spirtual slavery and death.) God is saying here he saves man but not fallen angels, i.e., Satan and his demons. Also, 2 Peter 2:4 says, "God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to chains of gloomy darkness to be kept until the judgment." (See also Jude 6.) It therefore seems pretty clear that God does not intend to save fallen angels.
Furthermore, the Bible doesn't give us any reason to believe that Satan or his demons will repent if they were given a chance. Satan is bent on causing God as much destruction as possible. 1 Peter 5:8 says, "your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour." The Bible also tells us that one of the way God judges us is based on how much we know of him. "Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more." (Luke 12:48). Imagine how much more the fallen angels, with their superior intellect and the past time they've spent in God's presence, know about God and therefore, how much worse their judgment will be at the last day.
The answer to the question is therefore, no, Satan and his demons will not be saved. God did not intend for it to happen and they are not interested in being saved anyway. In the end, the most amazing thing is that we humans will be the ones to judge Satan and his demons. 1 Corinthians 6:3 says, "Do you not know that we are to judge angels?" And after the judgment, God will take Satan and his demons and throw them into the place he prepared for them, the lake of fire. (Revelation 20:10).
No. Unlike us, humans, the angels, and Lucifer especially, were created directly by God Almighty and understood His essence on a level that made their rebellion a direct opposition to the Law of God, which, since it came from God was/is PART of God. Even though not all the angels had seen God's face, they had all been in His presence and knew precisely who they were choosing to oppose. There was no, "....They know not what they do" that could be plead in this case.
ReplyDeleteOur earthly mortality is, in many ways, a grace because it allows forgiveness of our transgressions through Jesus.
Not so for the far-more-spiritually-advanced angels.
REPENTANCE EXPERIENCE OF SEMJAZA, THE TWIN by Steve Savage "King of the Beasts"
ReplyDelete(The Seventh Major Spiritual Experience in My Life-Age 40)
"You shall remember all the way which the LORD your God has led you in the wilderness these forty years, that He might humble you, testing you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not. Thus you are to know in your heart that the LORD your God was disciplining you just as a man disciplines his son."-Deuteronomy 8
I first heard about the Book of Enoch in 1955, when I was stationed with the Army Security Agency in Asmara, Eritrea, Ethiopia, the very land where James Bruce discovered the texts. One of two Americans who ever learned to speak Tigrinia, my "Habasha" name is "Tesfai," which means "my hope or "my prayer." I served three years on that mountain plateau.
The legend imparted to me there by Coptic scholars relating to the Ethiopic Book of Enoch is: "Semjaza was the biggest, strongest, and most beautiful of the Sons of God. He is the archetype of Absalom, of Barabbas and of Joseph. He is the subject of the parable of the Lost Sheep and the Prodigal Son.
Jesus (not his spiritual name which was most likely Uriel) did not come to save everyone. He came to save the lost sheep of Israel, the Fallen Angels, most particularly, his spiritual brother, Semjaza.
"The kingdom is like a shepherd who had a hundred sheep. One of them, the largest, went astray. He left the ninety-nine sheep and looked for that one until he found it. When he had gone to such trouble, he said to the sheep, 'I care for you more than the ninety-nine.'"- Gospel of Thomas 107
It was neither the Jews nor the Romans who were responsible for the death of Jesus; it was the Watchers, the Evil Ones, the Fallen Angels. Looking through the glass of matter darkly, i.e., the flesh, Semjaza had forgotten who he was. He was "asleep" in his Beast. Because of his ignorance of Self, the Others who first awoke attributed all evils to him. He was the childish Fool of the Tarot.
"Any life, no matter how long and complex it may be, is made up of a single moment — the moment in which a man finds out, once and for all, who he is."
In a revelation, Semjaza learned the Truth of who he was. Fully awakened, Semjaza was brought to the abode of the Angels where he repented on his knees before his Father for his disobedience with these words from the Two Great Commandments:
'Take my heart so my courage will not fail me and cause a brother to stumble and lose hope by my example. Take my soul until Thy Will be done. Take my mind so my thoughts are Thy thoughts. Most of all, dear Father, take the Free Will which Thou hast given me by which I have created unfavorable circumstances and became first their obedient servant then their victim.'(At this exact moment, Semjaza realized that he was the Beloved Son of his Father and was overcome by his Father's Infinite Love for him) 'How much more joyful it is to love than to be loved. Be not far off my God. I wish to tell Thee each moment of my love for Thee.'"
If lucifer Repent i believe God would accept him.

That explains a lot.Actually I'm just from a website that suggests that choices in Heaven are of eternal consequence. In other words there is either desire to follow God or not to follow but either choice you make is of eternal consequence in heaven. This by the way makes a lot of sense,it explains why if you die and had a chance in life to repent and receive Jesus but chose not to, out of your own 100% total will, you cannot repent in heaven, in other words whatever choice we make here on this temporal world will have eternal consequence once we die and are taken up to heaven(which is eternal)angels happen to live in this eternal world where choices once made cannot be changed (might be the reason why Satan hasn't repented or more like he cant because he picked a choice very well knowing that it would be eternal, in other words he had fully made up his mind to Go against God and hence isn't interested in repentance)for us Christians struggling to follow God every day in this sinful loving world, that is great news it means once we go to heaven we will be able to serve God in eternal love, joy and peace.Amen!
ReplyDeleteIf Satan is forgiven that would change the vision John had of the demise of Satan. We are humanizing the angels and Satan. We as humans were created by God with hearts and consciences. I'm not sure angels are created the same way. If Satan is given the chance of redemption, the bible would have to be re-written.
ReplyDeleteNo. The plan of salvation is meant for man, not angels.
ReplyDeleteRomans 9:15 --> For he says to Moses, "I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion."
Yes. It is not for man to judge God's intentions. "I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion." - Romans 9:15
ReplyDeleteSteve Savage "King of the Beasts"
The Bible does not specifically address the issue of fallen angels having an opportunity to repent, but we can gain some insight from what the Bible does say. First, Satan (Lucifer) was one of the highest angels, perhaps the highest (Ezekiel 28:14 ). Lucifer—and all the angels—were continually in God’s presence and had knowledge of the glory of God. Therefore, they had no excuse for rebelling against God and turning away from Him. They were not tempted. Lucifer and the other angels rebelling against God despite what they knew was the utmost evil.
ReplyDeleteSecond, God did not provide a plan of redemption for the angels as He did for mankind. The fall of the human race necessitated an atoning sacrifice for sin, and God provided that sacrifice in Jesus Christ. In His grace, God redeemed the human race and brought glory to Himself.
No such sacrifice was planned for the angels. In addition, God referred to those angels who remain faithful to Him as His “elect angels” ( 1 Timothy 5:21 ). We know from the biblical doctrine of election that those whom God elects to salvation will be saved, and nothing can separate them from God’s love (Romans 8:38-39 ). Clearly, those angels who rebelled were not “elect angels” of God.
Finally, the Bible gives us no reason to believe that angels would repent even if God gave them the chance (1 Peter 5:8 ). The fallen angels seem completely devoted to opposing God and attacking God's people. The Bible says that the severity of God’s judgment varies according to how much knowledge a person possesses ( Luke 12:48 ). The fallen angels, then, with the great knowledge they possessed, are greatly deserving of God’s wrath.
In Christian hamartiology, eternal sins, unforgivable sins, or unpardonable sins are sins which will not be forgiven by God. ... Mark 3:28-29, Matthew 12:31-32, and Luke 12:10 state that there is one sin considered eternal and that is "blasphemy against the Holy Spirit". Lucifer, i.e., Semjaza, who is commonly, and erroneously, identified as Satan, never blasphemed the Holy Spirit.
ReplyDeleteSteve Savage "King of the Beasts"
Satan will never repent because he has crossed a line he will never ever come back from. His evil wisdom grows deep. Satan is intoxicated with his own beauty, power and authority. He wants to defeat God and the Lord allows him to try. No matter what Lucifer does, no matter, God overcomes him easily, and in the end will throw him into the Lake of Fire forever and ever. There is no one smarter, nor wiser, nor greater, nor more powerful than God Almighty. He is in a class by Himself. No one can withstand Him. He is God, worthy of our praise and honor for loving and saving us so.
ReplyDeleteGod has always been, is coming, and will always be. But He made man in His image. Man is special to God. He gave us free will. I can tell you what I experience out in the streets. I simply say, I am handing out gospels of John to anyone who wants one. Very few take these gospels. Sometimes I wonder if I am the last evagelist they will ever meet before they die.
ReplyDeleteThose who take gospels will have a future witness in their own homes.
