Lesson 13 - Rebellion: The Lucifer Scenario

Here's the video I showed in class. You'll want to be able to identify and analyze the biblical references to Lucifer's rebellion and expulsion from heaven.

Isaiah 14:12-15
Ezekiel 28:11-19
Revelation 12:7-9

Lucifer's sin wasn't a physical action at all. It was a decision, a choice, an attitude about himself.
Lucifer's problem wasn't that he wanted to be like God.  His problem was that he wanted to be God!
Lucifer does not have the power to create human beings.
Lucifer's rebellion is a result of his focus on self.

Q: Since God created Lucifer, and Lucifer became evil, did God create evil?
A: No. God gave us true freedom, even though He knew that some would use their freedom to reject Him, including Lucifer. He knows that only creatures who are truly free can truly love.

Q. How can we be more like God?
A. We can become like God, not by focusing on ourselves, but on unselfish love to others. When we begin to love as God loves, we begin to be like God.
